An intentional effort works. My body is living proof.
I’m 30 pounds lighter than I was a year ago. My sense of style has also gotten noticeably better. It was all part of a calculated effort to improve my look.
My Radical 1 Year Transformation
The question is: why did I do it?
The most noticeable part of holding public office is that all eyes are on you. You have a big incentive to clean up your act. So I did.
I’ve always been physically active. But that alone isn’t enough. Diet is key!
The word of the day is discipline. I’ve largely converted my diet to high-protein and low-calorie foods. Carbs are fine as long as they’re relatively low-calorie.
Here are some of the meals I’ve leaned into (no pun intended):
- Hummus and carrots.
- Steak and salad.
- Hard-boiled eggs.
- Imitation crab and fish of all kinds.
It’s amazing to me how simple the journey has been.
I also take a cocktail of supplements daily every morning after I shower:
- Vitamin D3.
- Fish Oil.
- Creatine.
- Testosterone booster.
- I also take Zertec to clean up my sinuses.
I take all the pills usually with a sparkling soda water: like Fresca Grapefruit Citrus.
Then I head straight to the coffee shop for my morning vanilla iced latte for the morning caffeine boost.
Working In Physical Exercise
Although diet is important, physical exercise is where it all comes together.
I’ve started going to a nearby gym to take up where I left off (I was in the best shape of my life in 2020).
Now I do multiple sets of varied exercises targeting different muscle groups. The number of sets doesn’t matter. I go until failure in in each set.
Mike Mentzer would be proud.
Moral of the Story
Nutrition and exercise is a daily grind. You have to keep at it for best results!
The most interesting fact is that I see so many people at the gym who don’t even break a sweat. They’re wasting their time!
If you’re going to do something, you better go all the way. That’s where the asymetric upside is at (which is something intend to write about in the future).
