Seeing Satellites In A Dark Sky Should Make You Think

I was enjoying the rare quiet hours of darkness before sunlight crested over the horizon from the east this morning.

That’s when the lights appeared…

I’ve never seen StarLink satellites before. Only pictures. But real life never disappoints.

The objects sped across the sky like a dramatic scene out of a science fiction film. I managed to capture a photograph.

The significance did not escape me. A sign of our times. The future was yesterday.

What used to be god-like in its magic is now controlled by mere mortals. The lights in the sky are man-made now. More star-like than birdlike.

You can roll your eyes as you read this. That’s the normal reaction. I would expect nothing less.

The philosopher Nietzsche would say that in the final days man would ask what is a star – and blink.

Don’t blink. It just means you don’t understand what’s right in front of you.

I’m grateful to live through so much disruption. But many people don’t even know it’s disruption. They think this is normal. But nothing about this is normal.

Technology running rampant with no one thinking about it. But I think about it. That’s what matters.
