Exploring Creeks With A Fishing Pole And Slim Jims

I’m exploring streams in the area. Looking for honey holes – and sometimes finding them.

I get a sense of adventure and exploration while hopefully getting a trophy fish in the process.

Pictures, memories, and good eating. A good feeling.

There’s something so raw and authentic about small flowing streams of water in the woods. You see how the weather shapes a stream and fish habitat in the process.

You see how fish can get trapped in sections of water just due to nature’s whims. How circumstances change behavior on a micro scale.

You learn what works to catch fish. Whether it’s doughballs or Slim Jims. You can compare it to how differently they act as opposed to lake fish.

Less options always lead to desperation. Abundance leads to complacency. As in life.

It’s also made me realize the importance of knowledge over equipment. A simple Slim Jim works better with the right target than expensive bait in other circumstances.

It’s all about knowing where to look. Finding parts of the stream that look more hospitable to fish.

It’s an educational process. A quiet process. One that emphasizes experience and quiet contemplation.

It suits me just fine.
