I’m Fishing With A Bamboo Pole Because It Just Works

They’re tiny fish. Bream they’re called. The little suckers put up a fight – but only after they bite the hook!

They’re easy to catch. Easy to eat.

I caught over 40 last week. Bamboo pole fishing. Off the shore in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. Now they’re in my refrigerator. Soon to be in my stomach.

Hours in the kitchen. Buckets of fish. I know my way around a fillet knife now.

Why I Use A Bamboo Pole

I’m doing it the old-school way. Bamboo pole and worm bait. Knife. No electronics.

Not to punish myself. To free myself. Computers die, but bamboo poles are already dead. No surprise is the best surprise.

I like to get inspired. So I read The Compleat Angler by Izaak Walton first.

Published in 1653, it sent people into a frenzy. Readers were hooked. It was reprinted almost as much as the bible.

Izaak Walton was a religious man. Church of England.

Fishing keeps you out of trouble. That’s probably why the Church gave it their blessing. I give it my blessing for the same reason.
